Senior Project Manager - Filtration

Department: 210 - Large Projects PWB
Location: Portland, OR

MWH Constructors, an industry leader in the heavy civil construction of water and wastewater facilities, is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager to support the construction of a Water Treatment Plant located in Portland, OR. This project will be the first of its kind in Portland, scheduled to break ground in Summer of 2024 and ultimately supplying 135 million gallons of water a day to the Portland community by Fall of 2027. This position is a great opportunity to be a part of a historic infrastructure and filtration project and see it through the entire project delivery life cycle, from groundbreaking to closeout.

Essential Functions

  • Plan, organize, and staff key field positions or subordinate project mangers. Coordinate staffing with US Operations and other Area department heads.
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy.
  • Initiate and maintain liaison with prime client, program manager, and engineer to facilitate all construction activities.
  • Monitor/control construction through administrative direction of on-site construction managers and superintendents to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
  • Represent Company in project meetings, assist in labor negotiations/strategy meetings, RWEA and CDIP compliance, AIS compliance, etc.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts (invoice payment, rental equipment, income/expenses, etc.) to protect company's interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with Client.
  • Work jointly with other members of the project team to complete and implement the MWH Constructors' Management Administration Plan. Use the planning guidelines and tools provided throughout the project.
  • Assure that direct reporting employees follow safe work practices and use company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
  • Work in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.
  • Provide leadership and technical support to project engineers, field engineers, and superintendents.
  • Implementing the Subcontractor Buyout plan and finalizing subcontract agreements for the project scope.
  • Manage the project's outreach program including specific COBID participation, Equity and Opportunity contractor engagement.
  • Support Change Management, Cost Estimating, revenue and Cost Forecasting and Scheduling.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by Regional Director.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in engineering, construction management, or related field or equivalent combination of experience, skills, and training. Master's degree preferred or specific experience for technical role.
  • Minimum 20 years' relevant management experience or equivalent skills and experience; demonstrated successful performance on complex and/or large projects, typically $200M+.
  • Special experience and expertise with treatment plant projects.
  • Minimum 10 years of management experience with profit and loss responsibility on an assigned project(s).
  • Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
  • Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities vital.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills essential.
  • Safety oriented, OSHA training.
  • Strong business-orientation required. Proven experience and judgement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience on large joint-venture construction projects.
  • Management of large project teams.
